A small, quiet border post that offers quick and painless border proceedings, unless one has had to wait for the officials to be called from the nearby village. When entering Zambia, you can only pay carbon tax here, you’ll need to proceed to the customs and immigration office in Kasama or Mpulungu to pay the road tax. This is reputed to be one of the easiest borders to enter Zambia, besides this detour to the customs office.
The road from Zombe border post to Mbala is in a very bad condition, but from Kasesya north to Matai there’s a good gravel road. There were talks at the time of writing to upgrade this border post to a ‘One-Stop Border-Post’ and upgrade the road.
