Border Control Zombe Border Post (ZAM/TANZ) 06h00-18h00

ID: w148366 View large map

Located in Zambia :: Great North
Category: Civil Infrastructure :: Border Control

A small, quiet border post that offers quick and painless border proceedings, unless one has had to wait for the officials to be called from the nearby village. When entering Zambia, you can only pay carbon tax here, you’ll need to proceed to the customs and immigration office in Kasama or Mpulungu to pay the road tax. This is reputed to be one of the easiest borders to enter Zambia, besides this detour to the customs office.

The road from Zombe border post to Mbala is in a very bad condition, but from Kasesya north to Matai there’s a good gravel road. There were talks at the time of writing to upgrade this border post to a ‘One-Stop Border-Post’ and upgrade the road.

A very quiet border post No ATM, you must have Shillings to pay road taxes etc, or you get sent up to the village to draw cash from a local who uses his cellphone. On the way in to Zambia, we had to drive to the Immigration Office at the docks in Mpulungu for our TIP as the printer at the border post was not working.

Road access fee paid on entry in USD only & valid for a year. Council levy USD20 per car (paid on entry & exit) in Zambia. White and Red Reflective Tape and Warning Triangles for every vehicle. (Feb-14).
