Booking

The Lesholoago Camp is located around the Lesholoago pan which makes game viewing easy. It is situated in the Mabuasehube area of the Kgalagadi. You may find a resident pride of lion here.

This campsite has a A-frame shelter, pit latrine/long drop, rustic shower and toilet, with unreliable running water (very salty, not good for drinking). There is a lovely acacia tree here, providing lovely shade. Note that water is also not always guaranteed here, especially during poor rainy seasons.

This is quite a large campsite, close to the waterhole.

Park entry fees may be paid at the gate in Botswana Pula cash only - ensure that you have the correct amount, or pre-pay your entry through the DWNP offices +267 686 1265 or +267 397 1405. Campsite reservations are mandatory, you have to book ahead. Reservations are therefore advisable.

“Lesholoago camp 2 is a very nice site with a view over the waterhole. It has a long drop (the old style with a door), a shower and washing up basins (with water) and an A frame. Camp 1 has no water and, when we were there, the A frame was out of commission. Camp 2 also has a large acacia tree with good shade if, like me, you prefer to camp under a tree rather the an A frame. On our final morning, my wife was washing the dishes at the sinks. A sixth sense caused her to look over her shoulder to find a male lion standing 5 metres away. He was clearly making his way to the water and looked a bit perplexed as to what she was doing there. Naturally, my wife immediately broke every rule in the book - she shrieked, dropped a pan, turned her back on the lion and ran to the long drop (from which I had to rescue her in our vehicle). Within a few minutes our visitor's friends, 2 other males and 2 females, joined him and made their way slowly through the camp down to the waterhole where they spent a couple of hours. ” - Jonathan Lang, 2015/10/04
