All visitors arriving, must report to the Mankwe Bush Lodge first! Mankwe Mopane Campsites is situated on route to Chobe, Savuti and Kasane.
This campsite is run by Mankwe Bush Lodge, it is one of their campsites. Access to this campsite is possible by 4X4 only as the roads are very sandy.
There are only 3 individual campsites at the Mankwe Mopane Campsite, the other campsite, the Mankwe Camelthorn campsite, has another 3 sites.
These bush campsites have a shower, flush toilet and wash basin. Campers are provided with firewood on the first night of arrival, more wood can be purchased at the lodge. This campsite offers only ablutions and water (not drinking). Guests have to have their own tents, food, cutlery, crockery etc.
Each individual campsite can accommodate 5 people, or a maximum of 15 guests in one group across all 3 sites, and 3 or 4 vehicles.
Meals can be booked at the main lodge.

Travelling from Maun to Mankwe: COMING FROM MAUN FOLLOW THE TAR ROAD TO SHOROBE (APP 40KM). AS YOU GO THROUGH SHOROBE YOU LEAVE THE TAR ROAD BEHIND AND GO ONTO A GRAVEL ROAD TO MAWANA GATE (BUFFALO FENCE) (APP 18KM). FROM THE GATE YOU PROCEED STRAIGHT TILL YOU REACH THE 'FORK' IN THE ROAD, KEEP RIGHT FOLLOW THE ROAD TO SANKUYO VILLAGE (APP 25KM). FROM SANKUYO TO THE MANKWE TURN ON YOUR LEFT HAND SIDE IT IS 5,5KM, TURN LEFT, FOLLOW THE ROAD TO THE LODGE (APP 2KM). PLEASE REPORT TO RECEPTION.
Travelling from South Gate to Mankwe: COMING FROM SOUTH GATE, YOU DRIVE BACK FROM SOUTH GATE TO THE BUFFALO GATE. BEFORE YOU GET TO THE BUFFALO GATE YOU TURN LEFT AND FOLLOW THE ROAD FOR 25KM TO SANKUYO VILLAGE, OUR MANKWE BUSH LODGE SIGN IS POSTED ON YOUR LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE ROAD, 5,5KM OUT OF SANKUYO.

Self Drive visitors are more than welcome, but pre-booking is required as Vouchers will be issued to hand in at our places. Drinking water can possibly be obtained at reception. Please note: on the Savuti Road: use the sandy route for the rainy season, and the marsh road for the dry season. The best time here for bird enthusiasts is in September and October to February/March, during the migration of the birds. The rainy season here is from mid November to March. The North and South Gates open 06:00-18:00. Fuel is available in Maun, and thereafter further north in Kasane. (Jan-14).
