Booking

Cape Vidal is a very popular fishing spot with boat launching facilities. Beautiful beach for swimming.

Accommodation available are log cabins and 50 campsites, which are private and all with power points and a braai/BBQ area each.

Game such as hippo, monkeys and buffalo can be viewed. There is fuel available and a shop.

No pets or motorcycles are permitted. No vehicles are allowed on the beach except those of official vehicles and tour operators with a permit.

How to get there: At the entrance to St Lucia village turn left at the T junction and take the road that goes past the Crocodile Centre to the Cape Vidal entrance gate. Travel on the new tar road for 35 kms to Cape Vidal camp.

CAMPSITE INFO:
Campsites are within walking distance from the beach.

CELLPHONE INFO:
No cellphone reception in camp but if you drive out, you do get reception about 1km out of camp. (May 2015).

SAFETY:
The beach is safe, but be warned that there are no shark nets here. (Jan 2015).

Watch out for the vervet monkeys, especially if you leave your campsite unattended - they will raid it. (Apr 2015).

TRAVELLER FEEDBACK:
Reportedly a nice camp in this area, and inside the iSimangaliso Wetland Park (the St Lucia Wetland Park). 2 to 3 days of camping and exploring here is ample. (Jan 2015).

 Travel Tip!

Try to avoid this area in peak season. Samango monkeys and Bush pigs can be a nuisance. Lock away all food as well as refuse.
