Situated more or less in the centre of the park, is the small satellite camp named 'Balule' derived from the Tsonga word meaning 'Olifants River'. Balule lies close to the mighty Olifants River just south of the Olifants camp. This is the perfect camp for guests wanting to experience nature first hand. The camp offers basic facilities; there is no electricity, and a low fence that separates you from the wilderness making it a true back to basics experience. It's a firm favourite with backpackers, caravanning community and other visitors because of its unique wilderness feel. The camp offer campsite with communal ablutions, cooking facilities and there is no power points but lanterns are provided. There are also six rustic huts with communal ablution facilities, the huts have no windows only vents, and there is only a communal kitchen available and a communal freezer with limited space. The camp has no reception and is managed from Satara camp. Guests should report to Satara or Olifants camps for check-in. The gate times for the Kruger National park is 05:30-18:30(Nov-Feb), 05:30-18:00(Mar, Oct), 06:00-17:30(May-Jul), 06:00-18:00(Apr/Aug-Sept). Kruger National park is a malaria risk area, precautions should be taken.
