Lake Victoria is one of Africa's Great Lakes located in east central Africa bordering the countries of Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania. It is also the largest freshwater lake in terms of surface area, and the largest tropical lake in the world. The lake is about 400, 000 years old with an average depth of 40 metres. There are two rivers flowing out of Lake Victoria; White Nile (Victoria Nile) and Katonga River. Katonga is the largest river that flows into the lake. Lake Victoria supports the most productive freshwater fishery in the Africa.
