Kilimanjaro National Park is located about 321km south of the equator and is also part of the Tanzanian national park. It is located near the city of Moshi. The park includes the whole of Mount Kilimanjaro above the tree line. It covers an area of 753 km2. The Tanzania National Parks Authority is the administrators of this park. Its not only the highest peak Africa, but also the tallest free-standing mountain in the world. The best time to visit is December to February, but also dry (and colder) from July-September. (Apr-13).

ACCOMMODATION:
There are huts available to visitors on the mountain, and several hotels and campsites outside the park, in the village of Marangu and town of Moshi.

RATES FOR PORTERS AND GUIDES:
Porters: USD 10 per day. Cooks: USD 15 per day. Guides: USD 20 per day.

NOTE ON CLIMBING:
To increase your acclimatisation time and maximise your chances of reaching the summit you must climb slowly. Allow a minimum of five nights or preferably even more to avoid altitude sickness during the climb. (July-15).
