Mkomazi National Park is located in the north of Tanzania. It covers a area of 3,500 square kilometre and was established in 1951. The National park has Mount Kilimanjaro as a view in the northwest, this is Africa's highest summit, to the south of the park is the Pare and Usambara Mountains that creates the backdrop to the park, and to the north is Kenya's vast Tsavo National Park. It is also a vital refuge for two highly endangered species, the charismatic black rhino and sociable African wild dog. There are two Black Rhino and Wild Dog Sanctuaries.
