Nigel town is situated directly south of Springs and Brakpan, in East Rand South East of Johannesburg, within the Ekurhuleni municipality, Gauteng province. This is a small mining town, however the gold mine have been recently closed and now the economy of the town is depended on industrial economy. Major attractions in the town includes golf clubs, aeronautical museum, train museum, Marievale Bird Sanctuary and visit to the Nigel recreational resort.
