Moedverloren/Knersvlakte is situated between Vanrhynsdorp and Nuwerus on the N7 in the West Coast District.
It stretches more or less from the Olifants River in the south to the Kamiesberg in the north. The Hardeveld is to the west and the Bokkeveld mountains to the east.
This is a large flat region.
The name in Afrikaans means to loose all hope or to gnash ones teeth.
