ACCOMMODATION:
An option for close by accommodation - self-catering of full board and camping is at Terrafou Lodge, about 20 to 30km from the Platjan Border Control. A bit closer you can try the Limpopo River Lodge. (January 2015).
ROUTE INFO:
The road from Platjan to Zanzibar in Botswana is a public road with no restrictions and with only one veterinary control gate at Baines Drift police post. You could be checked here for standard checks on meat etc.
Reportedly the condition of this road is generally good.
Note that the Limpopo Lipadi is a private conservancy though - while the road is a public road - reportedly there used to be a gate just as you got onto the gravel form the Zanzibar side, just to check that vehicles that entered the area, leave again. This is to control unlawful camping and poaching. (January 2015).
