Tachila Nature Reserve near Francistown covers 8,000 hectares of land. The name Tachila is a Kalanga name meaning "saviour of all living things.” The nature reserve was found in 2007 and it started as a project focusing on the restoration of the habitat and reintroduction of wildlife in this area. The reserve was established to conserve the natural and historical heritage of the country for educational and recreational purposes. Wildlife in the reserve includes leopard, hyena, mongoose, warthog and various exotic bird species. (Apr-16).
