Kidepo Valley National Park is located in Kaabong District, in the semi-arid valleys. The park was established in 1962, one of Uganda’s most beautiful and finest protected areas. It houses over 77 mammal species as well as 475 bird species. Kidepo Valley National Park is managed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority.

Travelling Information

ACCESS:
You have to take a ranger to access the north of the park, beyond the boma electrified gate. Otherwise south of the park it is not compulsory. (2019).

CELLULAR RECEPTION:
There is reception at Apoka Safari Lodge. Then it is intermittent through the south of the park.

CLIMATE:
Rainy season is from March to May, many of the roads and river crossings will be closed.

FUEL:
Fuel is not available in the park. Closest fuel from the Nataba Gate is in Kotido (122km from the gate). From Lokimoit gate to Kitgum (131km) to fuel. (2019).

PAYMENTS:
There are card facilities at the gates, but the machine does not always work. Then they take cash in USD or UGX. (2019).

SHOPS & SERVICES:
There is a small shop selling beers, cold drinks & water at the park head quarters. There is a local restaurant at the park head quarters, where anybody can eat with prior arrangement. (2019).
