Border Post between Zambia and Angola. The border is located near Chavuma, North West of the Zambezi town. Chavuma borders with Caripande Border post on the Angolan side. Border operation hours are between 07h00-18h00 (GMT+2) Time Guideline. This is one of the remotest border post in Zambia and there is the Chavuma falls close to the border and 12km away there is the Chavuma Mission Hospital.
The Chavuma / Caripande border post is located on Zambia’s northwestern border near the Chavuma Water-falls on the Zambezi River. The town of Chavuma is accessible on tar but once you turn north towards the border post you’ll be on a gravel road which could require an off-road vehicle. In any case, once in Angola an off-road vehicle is definitely required. Although both customs and immigrations are present on both sides, this is a small, seldom-used border post so you might have to wait for the border post officials to be fetched from the nearby village before you can proceed with formalities.

Angola operates on a (GMT+1) Time Guideline and the border times for the Caripande border in Angolan are between 07h00-19h00(GMT+1) Time Guideline. (Feb-14).
FUEL:
There are fuelling stations in Zambezi, Kabompo, Kalulushi and Kitwe. It is wise to fuel in Kabompo or Zambezi as there is limited fuel in Western Province rural areas and due to road conditions the supply is tenuous. (May-19).
ROAD CONDITIONS:
No truck movement is possible due to road conditions on both sides of the border. Road conditions from the turn off to the border from Chavuma village are difficult as the road is made of gravel, in very poor condition and narrow. Only immigration activity and small vehicles are crossing at present. Road is mostly made of tarmac until the last 11 km to the border post when it turns to bad gravel, narrow and not transitable for large trucks. (May-19).
