The Ponta do Ouro Partial Marine Reserve was proclaimed a reserve on the 14 July 2009. The main aim of this reserve is to conserve and protect coastal and marine species and their habitats. This includes the primary dunes on the beach stretching from Ponta do Ouro to Inhaca Island, covering the prominent points of Ponta do Ouro, Malongane, Madejanine, Mamoli, Techobanine, Dobela, Milibangalala, Membene, Chemucane, Mucumbo, Gomeni, Abril and Torres. Conservation of the coral reefs and turtle nesting sites. (Sept-2018)
