Please note that this living museum has relocated due to land disputes. This is now the new location.
A “living museum” is a cultural village representing the way of life of a specific cultural group, as it was before the influence of the European colonial culture. The Living Museum of the Mafwe is a cultural highlight in the Caprivi, in the north of Namibia, where guests can learn about the traditional culture and the original way of living of the Mafwe. Here, in the shadow of huge baobab trees overlooking the Kwando River, the Mafwe tribe in traditional dress present their almost forgotten culture to their visitors and encourage guests to try their hand at weaving a traditional net or taste some of the traditional meals on offer.
