Maruhubi Palace Ruins are situated close to the beach, just 4km from Zanzibar city centre. the ruins were named after its former owner Arab from the Al-Marhuby tribe, built between 1880-1882 was destroyed by fire in 1899 leaving a few memorable items. Now there are grounds spotted with shade trees, large lawn areas, and the original water reservoirs with overgrown with water lilies and large mango trees once imported from India. enjoy a picnic on the loan. Travel along the main road north out of Zanzibar Town towards Bububu. Pass Livingstone House on your right and, after a few kilometres, the Maruhubi Palace is signposted on your left. Dala-dalas on Route B run between the town and Bububu village, past the palace entrance gate.
