Cape Maclear is a vibrant town and popular tourist destination situated on Lake Malawi. The beach front is dotted with lodges and campsites interspersed with local fishing enclaves. The water of Lake Malawi is crystal clear and the ideal swimming temperature. As it faces north-west it is mostly protected from the lake winds and at the same time perfectly positioned for spectacular sunsets. The local name for Cape Maclear is Chembe.
